What do you do for a living ?

Diana:
I work at Friperie, a shop dedicated to vintage and second hand based in Madrid.
Xin:
I am the owner of Friperie

How would you define yourself in two sentences ?

Diana:
I am extremely procastinator, too punctual and a bit of a clown... and every day I care less and less about what other people think of me.
Xin:
I am a very flexible person, and I adapt quickly to changes.

What has you professional path been ?

Diana:
I studied psychology and obtained a master's degree in human resources management; but I've always been very interested in fashion and my career took a totally different path compared to my university education.
Xin:
I studied economics in China and did a master's degree in finance at the Complutense University of Madrid. I came into the vintage fashion industry by chance and fell in love.

How was Friperie Vintage born?

Xin:
I had worked part-time in the vintage shop when I was a student, and when the previous owner retired, I wanted to continue the business in my own way. We transferred the box, I kept the shop and Friperie was born.

How did Diana come to this project?

Diana:
I met Friperie by chance, then we discovered that we had a friend in common. We then started to have more of a relationship, and one thing led to another, here we are 4 years later!

What does the word "Vintage" mean to you?

Diana:
For me, vintage means being outside the trends, a break from the bombardment of trends we live in.
Xin:
For me, vintage is an interesting fashion style and an enduring lifestyle.

What makes Friperie so special?

Xin and Diana:
We invest a lot in Friperie and it shows, we select clothes according to our tastes, we play with clothes in our own styles, etc.

What are your three favorite places in Madrid?

Diana:
The Acid Café for a coffee or breakfast, any day of the week, the Bar Lambuzo for tapas and good wine when I miss home and the Prado Museum .
Xin:
Tienda Friperie is my baby, my business, I spend 80% of my time there. I'm not bored because it's my job, but I'm lucky to work in a field that I love and that I really enjoy.
Retiro Park , my favorite place in Madrid since the first day I lived here.
The XiaoLongKan hotpot , a Chinese restaurant near the Matadero . Even though I have been in Spain for 10 years, I still eat a lot of oriental food. In this place you will discover a very typical and tasty type of Chinese food, I often go there with my Chinese friends in Madrid.

What are the three products that are never missing in your toiletry bag when you go on a trip?

Diana:
Sunscreen, eyebrow fixer and lipstick.
Xin:
Foundation with sunscreen, eyebrow pencil, and cocoa .

The first gesture of self-care each morning... And the last each evening?

Diana:
I always start by washing my face, then I apply a good layer of super moisturizing cream.
Xin:
In the morning, I take a shower to wake up and put on a very quick moisturizing mask. In the evening, I also take a shower and apply a layer of moisturizer to my face, hands and lips.
